This area is located on the altitude of ± 27 meters from sea level right on the old hill village. This place is still kept sacred because here there are several tombs including:

Based on the findings in 1920 about the hill was found a statue (statue) Amarawati art style Buddhist that Sri Lanka faces from XI century BC and which is now placed in the museum yard Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II. Lawang Kidul Mosque is one of the old mosque in the city of Palembang. The mosque is located on the edge of Musi River in such a promontory formed by the meeting with Lawangkidul River estuary, in the village region of Lawangkidul, Ilir Timur II sub-district. House of worship was built and Palembang donated from charismatic cleric, Ki. Mgs. H. Abdul Hamid bin Mgs. H. Mahmud alias K.Anang in the year 1310 AH (1890 AD). This Cleric better known as Kiai Merogan.
Call it refers to the residence and activities that many Ogan River estuary region (one of the Musi River) in Seberang Ulu area. His father was a scholar and a successful trader. Kiai Merogan was born in the year 1811 AD and died on October 31, 1901. This cleric is buried in the area Ki Merogan Mosque, one of the mosque was built during the spread of islam religion. During the previous preach, he settled in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, but got a whisper to return home with his disciples, Kiai Merogan boat to the remote area in South Sumatra.

Initially, the cemetery area long before the Port of Boom Baru (ie, the new port) was established. This is the flow of a creek. More precisely, a sort of niche in the Musi River. This small river later called Kambang (pond). In place of that, the ship owner of penes (called by Palembang peoples to Phinisi) anchored with his boat when the boat they were being repaired.
This area includes part of the previous complex Tekurep Crater Cemetery, the family tomb of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Jayo Wikramo. Then, at this location was established ports, known as Boombaru in 1924.

Tomb Complex Sabokingking also present in the region of Pusri limited company. People are buried in this complex include Prince Sido Ing Kenayan (1630-1642 AD). Sido Ing Kenayan was King of Palembang who replaced his uncle, Prince Sido Ing Puro (1624-1630 AD) and his position was replaced by his cousin, Prince Sido Ing Pasarean (1642-143 AD). This tomb adjacent with the wife of Prince Sido Ing Kenayan, the Queen Sinuhun. In addition, there is also a king’s tomb religious teacher, Imam Muhammad Habib Alfasah derived from Arabic. Until now, the Queen Sinuhun believed to be the writer of Light Simbur.

Palembang harbor known as the Boom Baru (boom: port) is an alternate port was established by Dutch government in 1924 with the port authorities called Haven Meester.
Previously, cruise ports serving large ships (ocean) in Rendang River area (near the area currently 16 Ilir). Regarding the function of this port, set by the Dutch government Staatblaad No. 1882. 240. Since the development of trade in the region of Palembang let alone 16 Ilir more rapid development as a center of trade flows in and out of the boat was increased. Because of this old port is not considered able to accommodate the flow of the following ship unloading muatnya, the Government had adopted a policy to move it.
