LAWANG KIDUL MOSQUE

Lawang Kidul Mosque is one of the old mosque in the city of Palembang. The mosque is located on the edge of Musi River in such a promontory formed by the meeting with Lawangkidul River estuary, in the village region of Lawangkidul, Ilir Timur II sub-district. House of worship was built and Palembang donated from charismatic cleric, Ki. Mgs. H. Abdul Hamid bin Mgs. H. Mahmud alias K.Anang in the year 1310 AH (1890 AD). This Cleric better known as Kiai Merogan.

Call it refers to the residence and activities that many Ogan River estuary region (one of the Musi River) in Seberang Ulu area. His father was a scholar and a successful trader. Kiai Merogan was born in the year 1811 AD and died on October 31, 1901. This cleric is buried in the area Ki Merogan Mosque, one of the mosque was built during the spread of islam religion. During the previous preach, he settled in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, but got a whisper to return home with his disciples, Kiai Merogan boat to the remote area in South Sumatra.

KOCI POND

Initially, the cemetery area long before the Port of Boom Baru (ie, the new port) was established. This is the flow of a creek. More precisely, a sort of niche in the Musi River. This small river later called Kambang (pond). In place of that, the ship owner of penes (called by Palembang peoples to Phinisi) anchored with his boat when the boat they were being repaired.

This area includes part of the previous complex Tekurep Crater Cemetery, the family tomb of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Jayo Wikramo. Then, at this location was established ports, known as Boombaru in 1924.

TEKUREP CRATER

Funeral Complex is now included in the area of District of 3 Ilir, District II of East Ilir, Palembang. Based on old records, this cemetery was built in 1728 AD by order of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Jayo Wikramo (died 1756 AD), after the construction Tomb Complex ot Gubah Talang Kerangga (30 Ilir).

The name tekurep crater is taken from cone shape (dome) which resembled the crater in it stomach (Palembang: tekurep). If measured from the edge of the Musi River, the tomb complex is about 100 meters from the stream. Hedged around with bricks, which have been partly damaged. On the side facing the Musi River (south), there is a gate of the main gate to enter the tomb complex. In it, there are four cupola.

KEMARO ISLAND

Kemaro IslandIn the middle of the Musi river there is an island called Kemaro Island. The name means the island is never stagnant water, although the tide of the island will not be flooded and will be visible from a distance floating above the waters of the Musi river.
This island has a legend about the love story princess of Palembang who named Siti Fatimah proposed by the child king of China who named Tan BunAnn’.
The proposed requirements and Siti Fatimah Tan Bun Ann is offering 9 jars of gold, Tan Bun Ann’s family to accept the terms proposed. To avoid pirate gold when in travel brought from China the gold in those jars that have been covered with pickles and vegetables, with anger and disappointment then throw away all those jars into the Musi river, but on the last jar of crashes on the side of the boat and shattered so that the gold pieces have seen that contained.
