Lawang Kidul Mosque is one of the old mosque in the city of Palembang. The mosque is located on the edge of Musi River in such a promontory formed by the meeting with Lawangkidul River estuary, in the village region of Lawangkidul, Ilir Timur II sub-district. House of worship was built and Palembang donated from charismatic cleric, Ki. Mgs. H. Abdul Hamid bin Mgs. H. Mahmud alias K.Anang in the year 1310 AH (1890 AD). This Cleric better known as Kiai Merogan.
Call it refers to the residence and activities that many Ogan River estuary region (one of the Musi River) in Seberang Ulu area. His father was a scholar and a successful trader. Kiai Merogan was born in the year 1811 AD and died on October 31, 1901. This cleric is buried in the area Ki Merogan Mosque, one of the mosque was built during the spread of islam religion. During the previous preach, he settled in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, but got a whisper to return home with his disciples, Kiai Merogan boat to the remote area in South Sumatra.
