Kingdom of Palembang was pioneered by Ki Mas Anom Adipati Kiai Geding Suro bin Kiai Geding Ilir (1573-1590 AD) with the court as a center of power in the Fort Kuto Gawang (the name was acquired after the fort was burned Fleet VOC War under the leadership of Joan Van der Laan in 1659 M).
The former royal palace now tread a factory area of PT. Pusri Palembang and government center, although in practice they are still influenced Java, starting from Demak to Mataram. Based on records, Fort Kuto Gawang long 1100 meters, wide (1100 feet) is surrounded by Unglen Wood (Eusideroxylon zwageri T. & B.) 7.25-meter-high block-shaped with a thickness of 30 X 30 cm.
