ULAK LIA LAKE AND LEGEND (SOUTH SUMATRA)

Ulak Lia is a large lake situated in the suburbs Sekayu, Musi Banyuasin district, South Sumatra. Like other cities, known as “Randik”. Randik town located south of the city of Palembang is 125 Km. If we go to Sekayu, many tourist objects that we can visit, such as: Ulak Lia Lake, Kongar Lake, Cala Lake and others.

Long ago, before the area became known as now, there is a beautiful picturesque villages and many of its inhabitants. Population lives in the village that is farming and fishing. Most of the farming population to maintain a buffalo, while the fishermen mostly dog. Buffalo used to plow rice fields, and the dog used to keep the house in time fishermen were fishing.
On one day, three boys were seen herding buffalo to the forests to shepherd. Arriving at their forest-buffalo buffalo off to find his own grass. Buffalo is a docile pet, it will not go far if there were a lot of fresh grass. While the buffalo eat buffalo grass and children do not want to go far from its parent, the children were sheepherder together find guava trees around it. Apparently they are busy competing and scrambling for each tree and the ripe fruit.

Three children were seen to be in a guava tree that was fruiting heavily. They look very cool to pick the ripe fruit, is sometimes heard loud laughter and sometimes screams when they rush the great fruit. They looked jovial and full of harmony in friends.

Looks the sun almost hiding in the west, three of them rushed down from the guava tree and immediately buffaloes herded them back into the cage. Arriving at the barn they lit a fire to keep warm for the buffalo.

Meanwhile, the fishermen just returned to find fish. Among Mr. Dolla took her son called Andana. Andana is a favorite son Mr. Dolla, because he was obedient to parents and parents in the vicinity.
After all is said to Andana have Alligator power and can dive for forty days in the water. By his friends he was nicknamed Crocodile Demon.
When a quarter before noon, the fishermen get ready to go home. Mr. Dolla and his son Andana also getting ready to go home. And Andana desperately trying to help. As a result of people / friends survived, but the fish out.

At that time Mr. Dolla feel anxious, lest his wife and children in the house of fear to hear the sound of thunder again fighting. And she thought maybe the “Lia” cold because her house open to the sky. But Mr. Dolla remain patient pedaled his boat, and he arrived and his friends in the Port town of Sekayu, then he sells his catch fish and then return to their homes.

We arrived in front of his house, people are busy, in the heart Mr. Dolla asked “what is this?”, As well as with Andana. People also welcomed Mr. Dolla with joy even though covered with sadness.
Further explained by the Chairman of the village that the villagers in a noisy crowded place Mr. Dolla was just looking for a putrid father named Lia, father after the death he bathed in the lake so far he has not returned. Hearing that Mr. Dolla collapsed and died, so did his wife and Andana. So when the lake was named Lake “Ulak Lia”.
